Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Adi Hütter as a potential successor to Lucien Favre
Lucien Favre’s future has been the subject of a lot of speculation in recent months, thanks to Borussia Dortmund’s inconsistent performances. The Black and Yellows were dubbed by many as the favourites to win the Bundesliga title this season. And even though they are still very much in the title race, it is fair to say that Der BVB have underperformed this season.
While Favre’s future is not under any immediate threat, Borussia Dortmund are already looking at potential successors to his post. According to Funke Sport, Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Adi Hütter is one of the names they have in mind.
The news comes just one day before Borussia Dortmund’s crunch clash against Hütter’s Eintracht Frankfurt side at the Westfalenstadion.
Hütter was appointed by Eintracht Frankfurt before the start of the 2018/19 season. He led the club to a seventh place finish in his first season in charge, and also took them to the Europa League semi-finals, where they were beaten by eventual winners Chelsea in a penalty shootout.
The Austrian has managed to keep the Eagles competitive this season as well, despite losing the key attacking trio of Sébastien Haller, Luka Jović and Ante Rebić. Eintracht Frankfurt are currently in ninth place in the league, and have won four of their last five games.
Lucien Favre’s Borussia Dortmund contract expires at the end of next season. Although it is very difficult to imagine him still being in charge next year Borussia Dortmund fail to win the title this season.
