Dortmund played the full 90 minutes

Borussia Dortmund seemingly did the impossible on Friday, playing well for a full 90 minutes. If they could just maintain their level of play over 90 minutes instead of 60 or 70 more often they would be absolutely running away with the Bundesliga title. There’s no question that Dortmund has a title winning squad, but the problems that have haunted them over the past 12 months are down to their own inability to remain consistent for the full game.

Too often have Dortmund been up 1-0 or 2-1 and just stopped playing at the same level that got them ahead in the first place. The result is almost always Dortmund giving up a goal or goals in the minutes they drop their play and end up dropping points or even losing the game. The game against Leverkusen is a perfect example of this. A poor 15 minutes had Leverkusen score 2 goals and hand Dortmund a tough loss.

Dortmund will need to do this more often if they are going to have a chance at the Bundesliga title. The first big test will be the Champions League tie against a very dangerous PSG side.
