Previous Meeting: Paris St. Germain 0-0 Borussia Dortmund

These two sides have only faced each other twice before, with both fixtures coming in the UEFA Europa League group stage in the 2010/11 season. Both matches ended in draws. The game in Dortmund ended 1-1, with Nuri Sahin giving the home side the lead, before Clément Chantôme equalised late on for Paris St. Germain.

There were no goals in the return fixture in Paris. The French giants qualified to the knockout rounds as group winners, while Borussia Dortmund were eliminated after finishing third. Though the Black and Yellows did end up winning the Bundesliga title in that season.
