Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 2-1 win over PSG: Erling Haaland wins BVB the first leg
By Tushar Bahl
Lukasz Piszczek (7/10)
Piszczek kept his spot on the right side of Borussia Dortmund’s back three, and had a largely solid game. He made some important recoveries and tackles for his side. But he also lost sight of Neymar, giving him too much space to equalise for PSG in the second half.
Mats Hummels (7/10)
Hummels played some risky passes that nearly hurt Dortmund early on, but he grew into the game as it progressed. He was also involved in Dortmund’s second goal as he played Gio Reyna into space, allowing him to run up the pitch and find Haaland.
He had a little blip when he allowed the ball to bounce in the box, and Neymar hit the post late on. But he made up for it with a crucial block to prevent Neymar from scoring soon after. Overall, it was another strong display by the German centre-back.
Dan Axel Zagadou (8/10)
Zagadou was excellent and one of Dortmund’s best players in the first half. His composure and confidence were on full display as he helped his side play out of the back despite PSG’s pressure. He did not give the PSG forwards and inch, and read the game brilliantly. But then in the build up to Neymar’s goal, he either slipped or wildly lunged in, allowing Mbappe to ease past him.
Other than that, it was an excellent performance by the Frenchman.
