Borussia Dortmund showed they can win while not being at their best last weekend with a 2-0 win away to Werder Bremen. Erling Haaland scored his 40th goal of the season in that game, while Jadon Sancho also continued his excellent assist record.

The Bremen win also helped them keep pace with their title rivals. Now with Robert Lewandowski now ruled out for a month, Dortmund have the chance to take advantage of any potential Bayern slip-ups. But in order to do that, they must first win their games. The Black and Yellows face a credible threat this weekend in form of Freiburg.

Freiburg had an excellent first half of the season, but have struggled to match those performances since the turn of the year. Christian Streich’s side have won just one of their last five league games, and haven’t beaten Borussia Dortmund since 2010. They suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of relegation threatened Fortuna Düsseldorf at home last weekend.

On paper, this should be a comfortable win for Borussia Dortmund. But there are no easy games at this stage of the season. So the Black and Yellows will need to be at their best if they are to get the three points.
