Borussia Dortmund: What we learned from 1-0 win over Freiburg
By Adam Bakr
Sancho has become a very reliable scorer
Jadon Sancho showed he could score last season, getting 12 goals to go with his 14 assists in 34 league games. Incredibly, he has taken it up a notch, already exceeding last season’s tally.
Sancho is now on 14 goals in 22 games, and his early goal against Freiburg turned out to be the match winning goal. The increase in goals has not hurt his playmaking, as Sancho is again sitting on 14 assists, with plenty of the season still to go.
Sancho has scored in his last seven Bundesliga home games for Dortmund, a run only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has bettered when he scored in 11 straight home games.
Dortmund finally got their main striker in Erling Haaland in January, and now Sancho is looking like an overqualified second option to help with the scoring. His ability to produce game changing moments even when not at his best is what makes him world class.
Pair that with Marco Reus when he returns, and the Dortmund offense has the depth and versatility to make a run at the Bundesliga and Champions League.
