A natural centre back should be a summer priority

Borussia Dortmund have been carved open too many times this season with great ease and this was the case again last night.

Both goals came from poor defending and even before Neymar had scored, Edinson Cavani had a great chance when sent through on goal. Lukasz Piszczek is not a natural centre back and Mats Hummels isn’t getting any younger so it may be time for Favre to look into freshening up this area in the summer.

BVB have the worst defensive record of the top five in the Bundesliga and this could be their stumbling block when trying to catch Bayern. Manuel Akanji hasn’t been able to kick on after his impressive debut season. And while Dan Axel Zagadou is incredibly talented, he is not yet ready to lead the defence.

If they are to win the league then they need to shore up at the back and not be so open, especially in the key games they have coming up.
