Low: Early cup exit

Despite not losing a league game from late-August to mid-December, Borussia Dortmund saw their DFB Pokal campaign end in the midst of that run, losing in the second round to a non-league side.

The setback is disappointing to any team among the top in the Bundesliga, but the loss was made even worse by the opponent. Dortmunt lost to non-league Kickers Offenbach in a penalty shootout after failing to find the net in 120 minutes of play.

The cup exit does get overshadowed by the league victory, but it is still a disappointing mark on the season with such a talented squad. Arch-rivals Schalke 04 went on to win the competition, which makes it sting even more for the side as they bowed out too early to try and prevent its rivals title run.
