Borussia Dortmund legend Lukasz Piszczek’s contract is set to expire in the summer. Although Piszczek will be 35 going into next season he has proven yet again this year that there is still football left in the former Polish International. He has solidified his spot in the starting lineup in the second half of this season in a much less exposed role in the new three man central defense.

Piszczek is highly regarded within the club, and his leadership qualities and know-how make him a good character to have in the squad..He has spoken about his desire to extend his current contract, but it still remains to be seen if the club will offer him a new deal. It’s just a bonus at this age that Piszczek is still able to meaningfully contribute regularly, but the club have yet to make a final decision on his future.
