Playing Style

Jonathan David has proven his worth on the football pitch as a Canadian international and rising star for KAA Gent on many occasions so far. He is a young, intelligent forward with all the skills necessary to succeed in a league like the Bundesliga.

At just 20 years old, David has shown that he has what it takes to be a prominent goalscorer, but his experience has been limited to that of Belgium’s Jupiter league. He has so far scored 18 goals and recorded 8 assists in Belgium’s top flight, which sees him sitting atop the list of the league’s top scorers.

David’s playing style seems like it would be quite a good fit for a side like Dortmund. Looking at his goals and assists tallies, its clear to see that David is a hard working player, often creating when he isn’t scoring himself. His positioning in the box is also very intelligent, often making the perfect run into space to get on the end of a pass or cross.

David likes to position himself in a way where a simple ball from a teammate is enough to create a chance, and his finishing has been far from lacking. With all the creativity Dortmund possess in the midfield and on the wing, David would be quite an effective player to bring off the bench.

Of course, at the age of 20, David will be looking to get as much time on the field as possible. His general versatility on the pitch will allow him all the minutes he needs, however. As leading scorer for Gent, David has proven he has a keen eye for goal and would be a very effective player to bring off the bench to replace the likes of Haaland. But his ability to play as a 10 will come in handy more and more down the line as Marco Reus is clearly ageing and will need to have his minutes managed, especially if Dortmund wish to make sure their captain avoids any longstanding injuries as he approaches the later years of his career.

There are enough games in the season due to the multitude of competitions the team is involved in to make sure each gets the proper amount of minutes, especially if Götze relinquishes his place in the squad.

In tandem with ensuring minutes for the player, the club would also have to contend with several other clubs for the player’s signature. The likes of Porto, Lyon, and Ajax, as well as domestic rivals Bayern Munich have all been linked with the Canadian international.

To add onto this, Gent have been very vocal about their reluctance to part ways with the player, with reports speculating that it will take a bid of 22 Million Euros or more for the club to consider selling their forward. David has a high ceiling of potential that Dortmund can benefit from in the future, should David be willing to sign for the club.
