Highs and lows from Borussia Dortmund’s historic 2011/12 season

High: Dominance over rivals
Dortmund were unbeatable for long stretches of the season, and that was certainly the case when it came to rivalry games and top four opponents. With the exception of losing the German Supercup in a shootout to Schalke 04, Dortmund would largely dominate their rivals and closest pursuers throughout the season.
The aforementioned 5-2 win over Bayern Munich was the icing on the cake after doing the double over their Baverian rivals in the league season with a pair of 1-0 wins. They would also redeem the Supercup loss by beating Schalke in both league fixtures, winning 2-0 at home and 2-1 away. The four wins gave Dortmund a perfect record against the other sides that finished in the top three.
Home wins against fourth placed Gladbach and fifth placed Bayer Leverkusen capped off a perfect record at the Westfalenstadion for Dortmund against the remainder of the Bundesliga’s top five sides.
Draws against the two sides away from home may have seen the perfect record fade away but still saw the side go undefeated in the games that potentially meant the most in their title campaign.
