Borussia Dortmund: Achraf Hakimi set to make Real Madrid return in the summer

On-loan Borussia Dortmund player Achraf Hakimi is set for a summer return to Real Madrid, where he will reportedly sign a new five year contract.

Achraf Hakimi’s two year loan deal with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire this summer, which has led a lot of speculation about his long-term future. According to the very reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Real Madrid loanee will return to the Spanish capital in the summer.

Romano also confirmed in an Instagram Live with 433, that the highly rated full-back will sign a five year contract extension with Real Madrid after returning to the club.

With Hakimi’s future in doubt, Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a number of right-backs in recent months. The Black and Yellows are said to on the verge of signing Paris St. Germain right back Thomas Meunier on a free transfer in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund also have Lukasz Piszczek and Mateu Morey who are right backs, but the former’s contract is due to expire in the summer, and the latter has yet to make his senior debut for the club. Ruhr Nachrichten reported earlier today that the veteran Pole could be in line for a new contract, while Morey could be sent out on loan next year.

Hakimi has featured heavily for Borussia Dortmund this season, especially in the right wing-back role. The Moroccan international has scored a total of seven goals this season, including the goal that sealed the comeback win against Inter Milan in the Champions League group stage. He also has ten assists to his name in 37 appearances in all competitions.
