Left Back: Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)

29 Appearances, 3 Goals, 5 Assists

The highly rated Canadian youngster was signed by Bayern Munich as a winger in 2019, but transformed into one of the league’s best left backs this season. He excelled due to his electric pace and strength, which give him the ability to recover the ball quickly. He also showed his excellent football IQ, and proved to be a big threat going forward.

While three goals and five assists may not sound like much, Davies has so much more to his game. The Canadian international averaged 1.3 key passes per game. Defensively, he helped keep a number of high quality wingers at bay, averaging 1.1 interceptions and 2.4 tackles per game.

Other notable left backs who performed really well this season include Raphael Guerreiro, Ramy Bensebaini and Christian Günter.
