Centre Back: Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig)

28 Appearances, 7 Clean Sheets

The highly rated Dayot Upamecano had an excellent season for RB Leipzig. The Frenchman was ever-present and reliable in Leipzig’s back-line, proving once again just why so many top clubs in Europe are chasing his signature.

Upamecano also showed just how comfortable he is with the ball at his feet, breaking opposition defensive lines time and time again with his passing. He had a pass success rate of 89.8%, and a progressive distance of 13467 in the Bundesliga this season.

Defensively, Upamecano averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 3 clearances per game for Leipzig, and really excelled under Julian Nagelsmann this season thanks to his excellent positioning, awareness and composure. Still only 21, he also showed his leadership qualities on the pitch, and was one of Leipzig’s most consistent players.
