Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the signings of Thomas Meunier and Jude Bellingham, but the coronavirus pandemic has reportedly put a halt on further talks.
Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked with moves for Paris St. Germain right back Thomas Meunier and highly rated Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham in recent weeks. The Black and Yellows were in advanced talks to sign both players in the summer before the coronavirus pandemic struck.
According to BILD, both Meunier and Bellingham are keen to join Borussia Dortmund and only the signatures of the two players are missing for the transfers to go through.
However, there is a lot of uncertainty in football at the moment as a result of the coronavirus crisis. Borussia Dortmund have stopped all transfer activity and preparations for now, with the club having to deal with a number of other pressing issues. So further talks and negotiations cannot be held right now. It also remains to be seen what impact coronavirus will have on transfer fees, while BILD add that the upcoming summer transfer window could also be moved.
Before the coronavirus pandemic, it was reported that Belgium international Thomas Meunier would join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, with his PSG contract set to expire in the summer. While 16 year old midfielder Jude Bellingham was reportedly expected to reject interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United to seal a move to the Westfalenstadion for a fee in the region of 30 million euros.
Despite the recent pause in talks, BILD seem certain that the transfers for both Meunier and Bellingham will go through in the summer.
