The agent of on-loan Borussia Dortmund wing-back Achraf Hakimi has denied that his client has signed a contract extension with Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper Marca claimed earlier on Saturday that Real Madrid have extended Achraf Hakimi’s contract by another year, meaning that it will now run until the end of the 2022/23 season. However, Alejandro Camano, the agent of the highly rated Borussia Dortmund wing-back has refuted those claims, denying that his client has extended his deal with the Spanish giants.

In an interview with Spox, Camano said of Marca’s claims:

"“This lacks any basis. The contract with Real Madrid is still the one that we negotiated in 2017 and will run until 2022.”"

He added that all negotiations with both clubs are currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. “We have to wait and see, after this misery we sit down with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund,” Camano said.

Hakimi, who is nearing the end of his two year loan spell with Borussia Dortmund, has been linked with a number of big clubs in recent weeks, including Juventus, Paris St. Germain and Chelsea. Borussia Dortmund are also said to be keen on signing him on a permanent deal in the summer, but it is highly unlikely that Real Madrid would be willing to sell the 21 year old. Der BVB have a matching right if Madrid do decide to sell.

Hakimi has been a regular for Borussia Dortmund this season and has scored seven goals and provided ten assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.

With Hakimi’s future uncertain, the Black and Yellows have been heavily linked with a move for Paris St. Germain right-back Thomas Meunier. Veteran full-back Lukasz Piszczek is also in line for a new contract following his impressive performances since the turn of the year.
