Borussia Dortmund have several players out on loan right now, with the break in the Bundesliga we can take a look at which of them have a future with the club.

Borussia Dortmund have seven players out on loan right now, and only a couple of them probably have a realistic chance of a future at the club. The Black and Yellows have some exceptional depth right now and trying to break into a very deep squad won’t be an easy task. Some of these players are out on loan with an option to buy, which will likely be the case come the summer. However, the  financial issues caused by the coronavirus could thwart that.

Here we will take a look at all the players out on loan and determine their chances of them making it back into the Dortmund first team.

Sergio Gomez

Sergio Gomez was loaned out to Spanish second division side SD Huesca for the season to get some much needed game time. He was clearly not on Favre’s radar at Borussia Dortmund yet, so Zorc and co. decided it was in the best interest of the player to send him on loan to his home country to help him develop.

Gomez definitely has the best chance out of all the players on this list at this moment to make it back to the Dortmund squad. He will undoubtedly re-join the team in the summer and will get his chances in pre-season to make his mark.

The weird part is when he did play (pre-season and friendlies) he always looked decent. Yes, usually against lower competition but I thought it was enough to at least get him a chance with the first team. He is still only 19 years old and has lots of untapped potential. A big part of his future will be decided if Dortmund keep Favre or not, if a new coach is brought in he gets a clean slate coming back.
