Three reasons why Lukasz Piszczek deserves new Borussia Dortmund contract
Experience and reliable presense
Lukasz Piszczek does not have the legs he used to, but anything he lacks in speed he makes up for with experience. Yes, he is going to be exposed time to time at 34 years old in 1v1’s against pacey wingers, but his experience and know-how keep him in the fight regardless.
One positive of the switch to the back three is that Pisczek doesn’t need to play the right side of a four man defense, instead he has a bit more protection with the other center-backs. Along with his versatility Piszczek offers a very reliable option in defence. He isn’t going to be a match winner but he consistently delivers solid performances, which is very useful over the course of a season.
Not only that, but his presence in the dressing room, as well as his leadership qualities both on and off the pitch make him an important player to have in the team.
