Borussia Dortmund: Best XI of the post Jürgen Klopp era
By Tushar Bahl
Front Three: Marco Reus, Jadon Sancho, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang
Many have come and left, but Marco Reus has been one of the few constants in Borussia Dortmund’s forward line since joining the club in 2012. He has had his fair share of injury woes in the last five years, but no one can deny that his world class quality and game changing ability. The Borussia Dortmund captain was especially unstoppable last season, as he finally enjoyed a largely injury free campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing 13 assists.
From one game changing superstar to another, Jadon Sancho has been truly exceptional over the last 18 months. The Englishman has gone from strength to strength and is now wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, proving himself to be one of the club’s best bargain buys in recent history. Despite having just turned 20, Sancho has carried the team on his back at times this season, and his performances have been nothing short of world-class.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is another former Dortmund player who had a bitter end to his life at the Westfalenstadion. But no one can deny his goalscoring prowess and lethal finishing ability. With 97 goals in two and a half seasons, the Gabonese striker is the club’s leading scorer of the post Klopp era.
