Borussia Dortmund: Mario Götze changes agent ahead of summer transfer

With his Borussia Dortmund contract set to expire in the summer, Mario Götze has changed his agent to Reza Fazeli.
Mario Götze is set to leave Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer this summer after the two parties failed to agree to terms over a new contract. To help with his upcoming move, the 27 year old has decided to change his agent, switching to Reza Fazeli and his agency International Soccer Management.
Fazeli also represents Götze’s Borussia Dortmund teammates Emre Can, Mahmoud Dahoud and Marwin Hitz, as well as head coach Lucien Favre. Götze had previously relied on his family for representation.
"Götze told BILD, “After intensive considerations, I decided to make a change in the sporting planning of my career. I deliberately took the necessary time for this step because it is an important step for me to set the course for the future.”“What the sporting future will bring will only become apparent when normalcy has returned. I am very much looking forward to working with Reza Fazeli and his agency International Soccer Management, whose professional competence has convinced me.”"
Götze, who returned to Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2016, has fallen out of favour this season. He has been limited to just 19 appearances in all competitions, and has scored three goals and provided one assist in the process. He has spent less than 600 minutes on the pitch so far, with his last start coming back in December.
Götze is currently one of the club’s highest earners, but the BVB bosses wanted him to take a pay cut to sign a new deal. The two parties could not come to an agreement, and the 2014 World Cup winner will now be leaving Dortmund on a free transfer.
Götze’s new agent will be tasked with finding him a new club in the coming weeks and months. The playmaker has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha Berlin, AC Milan and AS Roma. His preference is to leave Germany for a foreign club this summer.
