Nico Schulz

Nico Schulz only joined Borussia Dortmund last summer, but has failed to live up to his price tag so far. He started the season as the club’s first choice left back, but after proving to be error prone defensively and ineffective in attack, he soon lost his place to the more reliable and dependable Raphael Guerreiro.

Schulz has been limited to just 15 appearances in all competitions, with his only appearance since the turn of the year coming in the DFB Pokal defeat to Werder Bremen.

With the European Championships now scheduled for 2021, Schulz could look for a move away from the Westfalenstadion to boost his hopes of being selected in the Germany squad. While Borussia Dortmund may also be tempted to cut their losses on the 27 year old.

With Raphael Guerreiro now set as the club’s first choice left-back and Mateu Morey available as back-up, selling Schulz could free up funds for a new right-back, which is likely to be a more pressing need.
