Mahmoud Dahoud not planning Borussia Dortmund exit despite rumours
The agent of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud has revealed that his client has not asked to leave the club, contrary to rumours.
Reports in Germany claimed yesterday that out of favour midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud is looking to leave Borussia Dortmund in the upcoming transfer window, and he has already expressed his desire to leave to the BVB bosses. But Dahoud’s agent Reza Fazeli has denied those claims, and says that his client wants to stay with the Black and Yellows.
"Fazeli told Sky Germany, “There is no basis to this (transfer request) whatsoever. Mo does not want to change. He wants to stay with Dortmund and work his way through. Currently there are no plans to leave the BVB.”"
Dahoud, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2017, has not been able to earn a regular starting berth in the side since the arrival of Lucien Favre. He has been limited to just 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season, with only three of those being starts.
The 24 year old has shown glimpses of his talent and creativity, as evidenced by his sublime assist for Erling Haaland’s second goal in the 5-1 win over FC Köln in January. But he hasn’t been able to perform consistently and remains behind Axel Witsel, Emre Can, Julian Brandt and Thomas Delaney in the pecking order in Dortmund’s midfield.
Dahoud was linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund in January, but ultimately, he decided to stay. But with Dortmund now looking to bring in highly rated Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham, it remains to be seen if he will stay at the Westfalenstadion beyond the summer. Dahoud still has two years remaining on his current contract with Borussia Dortmund.
