Playing with Julian Brandt again

Signing for Dortmund would reunite Havertz with his former teammates and one of his best friends in Julian Brandt. Similar to Dortmund this season, a large cause of Leverkusen’s success last season came down to Brandt starting in the midfield. This was evident in Havertz’ production with 11 of his 17 league goals in 2018/19 coming after Brandt moved to the midfield.

Havertz saw a dip in production after Brand left, with six goals in his 22 games so far this season. He has not been bad by any stretch, also adding five assists and dealing with some injuries, but with losing Brandt’s creativity and having to drop deeper to orchestrate the midfield himself, Havertz has not been as dangerous as he was in the previous season.

At Borussia Dortmund, Havertz can bring back that connection that brought both of them great fortunes and success. On top of that, playing off of Haaland and linking up with Reus will give Havertz plenty of room and chances to succeed.
