Where are they now: Borussia Dortmund’s 2011/2012 double winning team
Jakub Blaszczykowski
Kuba has moved back to his former club Wisla Krakow, and is now playing there. At 34 years old, Blaszczykowski is nearing the end of his career and will likely retire with the team he started his professional career with. Recently, he also bought Wisla Krakow to help prevent them from going bankrupt.
Kuba was a staple on Dortmund’s right wing when they were at their best over the last decade. Joining Dortmund in 2007, Kuba became another absolute fan favorite. Not only for his exceptionally well rounded play, but with his character off the pitch as well. Kuba will remain a significant part of Dortmund’s history for years to come as he has so many great memories with fans over his 8 years with the club.
Neven Subotic
Neven Subotic is another key part of the most recent generation of Dortmund legends. From 2010-2013 he and Mats Hummels were one of the best central defensive pairs in all of football. 3 titles and 1 Champions League final appearance in 3 seasons is proof of their success. Unfortunately Subotic was cut down by injuries in his prime and that lead to him leaving Dortmund in 2017.
Subotic has bounced around a bit since leaving Dortmund and is currently playing in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin. Subotic and Union Berlin got the better of Dortmund early on this season, handing them their first loss of the season. Dortmund later got even with Subotic thrashing him and Union 5-0 in the 2nd half of the season.
