Three reasons why extending Achraf Hakimi’s loan deal would be a good move for both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid

Real Madrid get a more polished player

Letting Achraf Hakimi continue his development at the Westfalenstadion for another year would also benefit Real Madrid. Hakimi is a regular starter at Borussia Dortmund, and another year with the Black and Yellows would help him further his development, and be a more polished player in time for his return to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants play a 4-3-3 formation under Zinedine Zidane more often than not. The 21 year old, while comfortable playing in a back four, has made several high profile defensive errors over the last two seasons, which have cost Borussia Dortmund. He is certainly more suited to a back three, with someone behind him to help out defensively.

The high media and fan pressure at Real Madrid means that every pass or touch is heavily scrutinised. That pressure can be daunting for some, and can even lead to more mistakes.

Hakimi has the potential to be the best full-back/wing-back in the world, but he is still a bit raw. Another year of playing week in, week out at Borussia Dortmund without the added media pressure would greatly help his development, and would be more beneficial to Real Madrid in the long term.
