Three reasons why extending Achraf Hakimi’s loan deal would be a good move for both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund get more time to find a replacement
If Achraf Hakimi returns to Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund will have to delve into the transfer market to sign a replacement. Lukasz Piszczek is expected to sign a new deal, but he will be 35 by the time the next season gets underway. While Mateu Morey is still untested and has yet to make his first team debut.
A number of right-backs have been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, but it remains to be seen if any moves will come to fruition due to the uncertainty brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
If the BVB bosses can convince Hakimi to stay on for another year, it will give them a chance to focus on strengthening the squad in other areas that are of more pressing concern.
It will also give them more time to see if Mateu Morey can take over Hakimi’s spot, or if they need a new starting right-back when the Moroccan international eventually departs.
