Borussia Dortmund’s fitness concerns

Another big issue that Borussia Dortmund and Lucien Favre will be facing, especially in the next few weeks, is the fitness of the players. After a seven week break, teams only returned to team training last week. And it remains to be seen if the players are fully ready for the restart.

Couple that with Borussia Dortmund’s lengthy injury list, and Lucien Favre will certainly be facing a lot of selection headaches in the coming weeks. Axel Witsel and Emre Can are major doubts for the clash against Schalke, while Marco Reus and Dan Axel Zagadou have already been ruled out. So we could see a much-changed Dortmund line-up take the pitch this weekend.

With nine games coming up in six weeks, Favre and his team will know the importance of getting off to a good start and getting a bit of momentum on side. Favre will have to find a way of getting those results while keeping his best players fresh and healthy.
