Lukasz Piszczek (6.5/10)

The veteran Pole put in another strong, error-free shift, showing once again why he deserves a new contract. Piszczek made some important tackles and interceptions to prevent Schalke from troubling Bürki’s goal. And his excellent forward pass to Brandt started the move for Borussia Dortmund’s first goal.

Mats Hummels (6.5/10)

Like Piszczek, Hummels did not put a foot wrong and led the Dortmund defence with great control. He prevented Raman or Burgstaller from even getting a sniff on goal, and made a couple of excellent tackles for his side.

Manuel Akanji (6/10)

Replacing Zagadou on the left side of the Dortmund defence, Akanji had a couple of nervy moments early on, but recovered well and was solid for large parts of the game. The Swiss international also completed 91.2% of his 91 passes.
