Borussia Dortmund are back in action in the Bundesliga on Saturday after a two month layoff. It’s only fitting that their first game back would be a derby against Schalke.
Borussia Dortmund fans are counting down the hours until the Bundesliga is back in action Saturday with a Dortmund versus Schalke derby. It’s been two months since we last saw Borussia Dortmund on the field and to open with a clash against rivals Schalke should be quite the event. Without fans in the stadium it won’t be quite the same, the game will surely be lacking some intensity as a result.
Before the break Borussia Dortmund were in a great run of form winning 5 of their last 6 games. The one game they lost was actually a “ghost game” against PSG in the Champions League round of 16 second leg. Their defence was really solidified in that period only conceding one goal in the five wins.
Unfortunately as the Black and Yellows head into this one, they are missing several key players, Marco Reus, Emre Can, Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Nico Schulz will all be unavailable Saturday.
Schalke were nearly the exact opposite before the break, with only one win in their previous 9 games. Schalke had a decent start to the season but have plummeted recently down to 6th place and only 2 points off 9th.
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to exact some recent vengeance on Schalke with the royal blues having the better of them over recent crunch matches.
The game will be broadcast live in the United States on Fox Sports 1, and will be free to air for German viewers on Sky Sport, while fans in the United Kingdom can tune in on BT Sport 1.
