Julian Brandt

Borussia Dortmund 4-0 Schalke 04

There were some impressive performances in Borussia Dortmund’s win over Schalke. Raphael Guerreiro scored two goals, Erling Haaland and Thorgan Hazard both scored one and provided another. But the best player in the rout was undoubtedly Julian Brandt.

The German playmaker played the role of the conductor, as he ran the show with his exquisite vision, pinpoint passing and stylish yet effortless flicks. Brandt was involved in all four of Borussia Dortmund’s goals in one way or another, getting two assists and two pre-assists to his name.

If that’s not enough, Brandt also helped out enormously in defence, making nine recoveries, winning five tackles and 10 duels.

Brandt made it all look so easy, as he controlled the tempo of the game for the Black and Yellows, ensuring that Schalke stood no chance of getting anything out of the game.

Many people have somewhat surprisingly slept on just how good Brandt has been this season. But Saturday’s performance showed once again that he is one of the most talented attacking midfielders in the world.
