Defence: Lukasz Piszczek, Mats Hummels, Manuel Akanji

With Dan-Axel Zagadou out for the remainder of the season, barring injury, there likely won’t be too much rotation with Piszczek, Hummels and Akanji forming the Borussia Dortmund back line. Lukasz Piszczek will take up the right side, fresh after signing a new one year contract extension.

Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji will take up the other two spots in central defence. Akanji had a rough stretch prior to the break but actually had a very solid game against Schalke. Hopefully he can recapture his form from a year and half ago when he was looking like the future of the Dortmund defence.

Getting a clean sheet ahead of next week’s game against Bayern will be a massive boost to the Dortmund defence.
