Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich: Six players to watch in Der Klassiker
By Tushar Bahl
Erling Haaland
Even though he didn’t score on Saturday, Erling Haaland’s presence and movement were crucial in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Wolfsburg. A player like Haaland will need no motivation heading into the Bayern game, and he will be determined to go out there and make a difference for the Black and Yellows in what could be a tightly contested game.
The January signing has already found the net ten times in the Bundesliga, and don’t be surprised if he adds to that tally on Tuesday.
Julian Brandt
Another player who will be keen to make his mark on the game will be Julian Brandt. The former Bayer Leverkusen man was linked with a move to Bayern Munich before joining Borussia Dortmund, but the Bavarian giants apparently thought that he did not have the ‘Mia San Mia mentality’.
Brandt will have his sights set on showing Bayern what they missed out on, by leading Borussia Dortmund to yet another victory from his number ten role.
Mats Hummels
Borussia Dortmund have a number of quality players in attack, but if they are to get the three points on Tuesday, they will have to be at their very best defensively. Mats Hummels left the Wolfsburg game with an injury at half time, but it would be a huge surprise if he sat out the Bayern game.
The former Bayern man will be looking to get one over his former employers on Tuesday. And his performance will be crucial if Dortmund are to keep Bayern’s star-studded attack quiet on Tuesday.
