Borussia Dortmund were back in action on Saturday for the second time since the return of football, enjoying a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

The Bundesliga was back this weekend for its second match day since the league returned from its COVID-19 hiatus with Borussia Dortmund still hot on the heels of Bayern Munich in this years title race. Dortmund were able to temporarily close the gap between themselves and the Bavarian giants with a hard earned 2-0 victory in Wolfsburg which saw goals from in form Raphaël Guerreiro and Achraf Hakimi sealing the win for Die Schwarzgelben.

The game saw a relatively solid performance from Borussia Dortmund, and despite a slow start they were eventually able to dominate Wolfsburg quite comfortably, with levels of possession reaching as high as 70% at times.

A lot of this initial possession was harmless, but the team got the job done in the end, bringing them one step closer to their goal of toppling Bayern this season. Let us take a look at some of the key talking points from Dortmund’s performance against Wolfsburg.
