Jadon Sancho scored a second half hat-trick as Borussia Dortmund hit Paderborn for a six to strengthen their hold on second place in the Bundesliga table.

After a closely fought first 45, Borussia Dortmund ran riot in the second half, with goals from Thorgan Hazard, Jadon Sancho (x3), Achraf Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer giving them a comprehensive win over bottom club second half.

It was the perfect response by the Black and Yellows after their disappointing defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Borussia Dortmund weren’t always at their best, but Paderborn simply couldn’t live with them on the counter attack as the game progressed, with four goals coming in the last 16 minutes.

The result helps Borussia Dortmund move five points clear of fifth placed RB Leipzig, although Julian Nagelsmann’s side have a game in hand.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from the game.

Roman Bürki (6.5/10)

Bürki got his hand to the penalty, but wasn’t able to prevent it from going into the back of the net. He did not have a save to make other than that.
