Akanji back in form

Ever since the restart of the Bundesliga, Manuel Akanji has been a completely different player in comparison to his performances for the majority of this season. Although he possesses all the traits to make him a star centre-back, he just struggled to put it all together this season and bring in consistent performances.

In the games since the re-start we have seen the Akanji from the first half of last season, confident and mistake free for large parts. On Saturday, Akanji was at his best, putting in a confident and composed display. He made a lot of important recoveries and was also involved in the team’s build-up play.

If he is able to keep this up, the talks of him maybe being on his way out of Dortmund will surely be at an end. Hopefully he can continue his strong play, if he’s able to Akanji has all the tools to be an exceptional defender.
