Erling Haaland to the rescue… again

Erling Haaland wasn’t fit enough to start the game, still recovering from the knee injury he picked up against Bayern. Regardless, Haaland has an exceptional record in scoring goals coming off the bench. If we look back to when he first joined Dortmund, he scored 5 goals in his first two games, all coming off the bench.

He got to play the savior role again on Saturday, scoring a 95th minute winner. It wasn’t your typical Haaland goal either, as he scored his first header goal in a Dortmund jersey and it was perfectly placed.

Haaland is such a clinical finisher with his feet it’s often forgotten that he is 6’4″ and a massive threat in the air. He’s not the best header of the ball, but at 19 years of age he has plenty of time to work on that to add it to his repertoire.

He only had six touches of the ball after coming on at the hour mark, but that’s all he needed to make his mark on the game.

If he is able to become as clinical or close to in the air as he is with his feet, he will be on his way to being one of the best strikers in the world.
