Jude Bellingham is set to join Borussia Dortmund this summer, having already made a commitment to the club before the coronavirus lockdown.

Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham has been a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs in recent months, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea all thought to be interested in signing him. But the highly sought after midfielder is set to join Borussia Dortmund this summer, following in the path of compatriot Jadon Sancho.

According to German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, Bellingham and his father had already made a commitment to join Borussia Dortmund a few days before the football leagues’ coronavirus lockdown. Since he does not have a professional contract with Birmingham City, Bellingham’s transfer is expected to cost the Black and Yellows somewhere in the region of 20-25 million euros.

Bellingham does not turn 17 till later this month, but he is already a regular for Birmingham City in the second division of English football. He has made a total of 35 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and has four goals and three assists to his name. Borussia Dortmund have plans to incorporate him straight into the first team next season.

SZ add that Bellingham may well be playing with fellow Englishman Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund next season, with no clubs currently willing to meet the asking price of 130 million euros.

Kicker also reported earlier today that Borussia Dortmund have yet to receive any bids for Sancho. Head of licensed players department Sebastian Kehl said on Saturday before the win over Fortuna Düsseldorf, “We assume that Jadon Sancho will be playing with us next year.”
