Borussia Dortmund are set to complete the signing of Thomas Meunier on a free transfer, and are planning to announce the transfer before the end of the season.
Thomas Meunier has been heavily linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in recent months, with his contract with Paris St. Germain set to expire at the end of the season. The Belgian international is now on the verge of sealing a move to the Westfalenstadion, with BILD reporting that the move could be made official before the end of the season.
BILD add that a number of other clubs had made offers to Meunier, but compatriots Axel Witsel and Thorgan Hazard helped sway him in favour of a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Meunier is expected to replace Achraf Hakimi in the Borussia Dortmund squad if the Moroccan International decides to return to Real Madrid following the end of his two year loan spell this summer. If Hakimi stays for another year, Meunier could compete with Lukasz Piszczek for a spot in the back three.
Reports in Belgium say that before joining Borussia Dortmund, Meunier wants to stay with PSG until the end of their UEFA Champions League campaign. While the Ligue 1 has already been cancelled, the Parisians are due to return to training soon in preparation for the Champions League, with matches set to be played in August.
Meunier has made a total of 27 appearances in all competitions for PSG so far this season, and has one goal and two assists to his name.
