Borussia Dortmund make the trip to Leipzig for a game that will have major ramifications on both teams’ bid to claim second place in the Bundesliga standings.

Just three points separate Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig going into this weekend’s clash. Both sides also have the same goal difference of +45. And with just one more game to go after this one, Saturday’s game has a lot riding on it.

Borussia Dortmund are coming off a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Mainz, in which they were outplayed by the relegation candidates. Lucien Favre will be looking for a much better performance from his side on Saturday.

RB Leipzig could have been just one point behind their opponents going into the game, but they were held to a 2-2 draw by Fortuna Düsseldorf on Wednesday after conceding twice in the last five minutes.

Borussia Dortmund have a long list of players out through injuries and suspension. Marco Reus, Mahmoud Dahoud, Manuel Akanji, Achraf Hakimi, Thomas Delaney and Mario Götze will all miss the game. But Dan Axel Zagadou could return to the bench after making the trip to Leipzig. Julian Nagelsmann’s side will have to make do without Yussuf Poulsen, Konrad Laimer and Hannes Wolf.

There is a lot riding on this game as the teams battle it out for second place. And if the reverse fixture between these two sides is anything to go by, we could be in for another cracking contest.
