As the Bundesliga season draws ever closer to an end, only few details remained coming into the penultimate fixture of the campaign. With record champions Bayern Munich already pipping Borussia Dortmund to take the title for the eight year in a row, it was up to the rest of the league to fight it out for the remaining spots in Europe.
Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Leipzig still had a lot of importance to it, with both sides vying for second place. Dortmund came into the game having put in a dismal performance against Mainz earlier in the week, losing 2-0 at home to the relegation threatened side. RB Leipzig, on their part, came into the game on the back of an unconvincing 2-2 draw against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
