Erling Haaland has revealed that he is not thinking about leaving Borussia Dortmund, and wants to win titles with the club.
Erling Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January, and has made an incredible impact, scoring 16 goals to go along with his three assists in just 17 appearances in all competitions. The 19 year old has quickly become the Black and Yellows’ talisman, and is now eyeing trophies with the club.
In an interview with Funke sport, Haaland said:
"“I want to achieve something with BVB, I would like to win titles. We should set ourselves goals, we want to attack, we want to score as many goals as possible, and as a striker I naturally want to do my part.”"
In addition to his goals, Haaland has also earned a lot of praise for his determination, his excellent movement and work rate. And the Norwegian international has revealed that his personal secret is “a lot of hard work”.
"“It takes a lot of hard work for a striker as well as the will and conviction to go where the ball will be and then shoot it into the goal,” Haaland said. “You have to be smart and above all, you have to keep trying over and over again.”"
Asked about his decision to choose Borussia Dortmund over the likes of Manchester United and Juventus in January, Haaland said that he made his decision with a lot of conviction.
Haaland signed a four and a half year deal with Borussia Dortmund in January. But his performances have already seen him get linked with a move away from the Signal Iduna Park, with Real Madrid thought to be interested in signing him. But the striker has given no thought to a move away from Dortmund, saying that he has “only just arrived”.
"“I don’t think much about the future, I live in the present and decide what is best for my career in the here and now. That’s why I joined Dortmund in the winter with a lot of conviction. Dortmund is one of the best teams in the world, I have signed a long contract and I have only just arrived. So now I don’t think at all about leaving the club again.”"
Haaland also spoke about the influence of head coach Lucien Favre, whose future has been the subject of plenty of speculation this season. Despite calls for him to be sacked, Haaland believes that the Swiss trainer has made a big impact in his excellent start to life at Borussia Dortmund.
"“He has obviously already helped me a lot to improve. I’ve scored a lot of goals at an even higher level and we’ve won a lot of games with him as a team. All of that speaks for itself.”"
Haaland and Favre will be aiming to end the season on a high as Borussia Dortmund host TSG Hoffenheim for their final game of the season this weekend.
