Borussia Dortmund host TSG Hoffenheim in the final game of the Bundesliga season on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund won’t have a ton to play for on Saturday with second place already locked up. Regardless, they will be looking to finish on a high note and cross the 70 point threshold with a win. Although three points will be crucial this is also a great chance for Lucien Favre to rotate and get some youngsters some valuable game time.
Borussia Dortmund are coming off a big 2-0 win against Leipzig last weekend that saw them confirm their finish behind Bayern Munich. Erling Haaland notched a brace in the win, sealing their three points in the 93rd minute.
TSG Hoffenheim enjoyed a 4-0 thrashing of Union Berlin last weekend. Hoffenheim have their spot in 7th secured, but if they’re able to take points from this one they could leapfrog Wolfsburg into 6th place and take a place in the Europa League group stage. They will surely be highly motivated on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund still have several players missing for a number of reasons with Marco Reus, Emre Can, Manuel Akanji, Mario Gotze, Mahmoud Dahoud and Thomas Delaney all missing. Lucien Favre confirmed at Friday’s press conference that Dortmund are currently just hoping that Reus will be fit for the start of next season.
Hoffenheim are pretty fit at the moment without too many injuries keeping players out. This will also mark Jacob Bruun Larsen’s return the the Westfalenstadion.
