Number Four: vs Slavia Prague (Champions League, 2019/20 season)

Coming off their 0-0 draw with Barcelona in the opener, Borussia Dortmund could not afford to drop points in Prague. Hakimi started this game in an advanced attacking role on the left, and played it to great effect.

Hakimi scored the opener for Borussia Dortmund in this game as well. After playing a give-and-go with Julian Brandt in Dortmund’s own half, Hakimi found himself in space down the right wing. Showing off his dangerous pace, he surged into the box and cut past the recovering defender and keeper Ondrej Kolar. With three defenders between himself and the goal, Hakimi showed great composure to pick his spot in the top corner. It was a much needed goal, as Slavia were enjoying some good possession and chances in the early stages of the match.

Hakimi then went on to seal the win in the games closing minutes of the game, this time attacking from the left side. Again being played in by Brandt, Hakimi had an open run into the box. This time it was a simple finish, as he found the net past Kolar to the back post with a left footed strike.

The game ended 2-0, with the Moroccan international’s brace separating the sides on this occasion.
