Nico Schulz (5/10)

Nico Schulz was bought by Borussia Dortmund after a very solid season with Julian Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim, and considering his price tag, his season can’t be labelled as anything other than a bust.

Schulz was brought in to solidify the shaky left side of the defence and instead he became the shaky player himself while Guerreiro shone after the formation change. Injuries did not help his cause, but neither did his lack of ideas going forward, or poor defending at the back.

It remains to be seen if Schulz has a long term future with Dortmund. While incredibly athletic he seems to be lacking the decision making required to take him to the next level.

Mateu Morey (6.5/10)

Considering Mateu Morey played a total of 195 Bundesliga minutes this season, his overall rating is quite high. Although it was a very small sample size, Morey impressed fans and higher ups alike in his limited play time, enough so that Zorc felt comfortable letting Hakimi go, leaving the door open for Morey to see a significant increase in play time next season.

After impressing in pre-season, an injury kept his chances of game time to next to nothing until the end of the season. Fortunately Favre gave him his chance after the restart, and he made the absolute most of it. He will be counted on next season more often as he looks to build off the start to his Dortmund career.
