Borussia Dortmund have several players that they will need to make decisions on this summer. Multiple players are returning from loan that have no real future with the club.

With the conclusion of the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund now switch their focus to finalizing their squad for the upcoming season. While Zorc has said there aren’t expected to be many players incoming players, maybe just the expected signature of Jude Bellingham still to come. However, there is plenty of work to be done on the selling side of the business. Dortmund have several players returning from loan that they will be trying to offload the summer.

One of the only loanees returning has a realistic chance of getting back into the first squad according to Bild and that is Marius Wolf. With the departure of Hakimi, that does make sense, Wolf never fit in as a winger, but he could be a nice rotation option at wing-back should Favre keep the back three.

Andre Schurrle, formerly Dortmund’s record signing a few years ago looks to finally be on his way out. After spending the last two seasons on loan, Dortmund are reportedly prepared to let Schurrle go for as little as €2 million this summer.

If they can’t find a willing buyer, there are even talks of Dortmund being willing to mutually terminate the contract.

Felix Passlack is another player returning to Dortmund from his loan, who likely faces a similar fate. The full back has had one of the most drastic downturns in performance in recent memory. Once viewed as the heir apparent to Lukasz Piszczek, Felix Passlack feel into the depths of obscurity and hasn’t been able to make any sort of a return in recent years. Despite coming off an impressive loan spell in the Netherlands, Passlack unfortunately has no future with Dortmund and should be looking for a new club this summer.

Sergio Gomez will also be returning from his loan to SD Huesca. Gomez has never really gotten a shot with Dortmund and if Bild is to be believed he could be yet another player without a long term future with Dortmund. Although he has more potential than anyone on this list, there just isn’t really a spot for him in the squad. There are too many players ahead of him to get a real chance.

Finally, the remaining loanee is Dzenis Burnic who spent his season on loan with Dynamo Dresden. It’s very possible he could head back there on a permanent move after he inserted himself as a fairly regular player for them.
