Lucien Favre had a topsy-turvy season as he helped Borussia Dortmund finish as runners up with 69 points in 34 games in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund did finish second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last season but it was still a season that saw a lot of progress being made. Not only did they secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the 2020/21 season but they also set a club record in terms of goals, finding the net 84 times in the Bundesliga alone.

There were certainly more positives than negatives, as Lucien Favre’s men showed that they are capable of fighting for the title, despite the rather poor end to the season.

The Swiss tactician’s future was the subject of much debate, with certain sections of the media, as well as some fans calling for him to be sacked. But the BVB bosses decided to keep him on as the head coach for at least another season.

Here we look back at Lucien Favre’s season, and see where he can make improvements ahead of the coming campaign.
