Borussia Dortmund and the rest of the Bundesliga are set to return in September, and as things currently stand with fans in the stadiums.

Although the initial numbers were a bit higher, it appears as though Borussia Dortmund will be looking at a maximum of 15,000 fans in the Signal Iduna Park. Although it is not the standard 80,000+ in the Black and Yellows’ home fortress, it’s a massive improvement from the 0 fans allowed in during the ghost games that finished up last season.

Borussia Dortmund Managing Director Carsten Cramer was the one to confirm the numbers with Sport Bild.

"“We are in close contact with all institutions. According to the current status, we are planning for our first home game of the new season in September with 12,000-15,000 spectators in the Signal Iduna Park. Taking into account the currently applicable distance rules, which we assume in our planning, it seems that a number of viewers of this magnitude can be represented.”"

The Bundesliga schedule for the 2020/21 season is set to be announced on August 7th. Although the start date of September 18th had already been confirmed, Bundesliga teams will find out who they will start the season against in two weeks time. The draw for the first round of the DFL Pokal will be made on Sunday, and the matches will be played a week before the start of the Bundesliga season.

The DFL will play a significantly compressed schedule with a much shorter winter break and many more midweek games in order to accommodate the season.
