Borussia Dortmund are said to be lining up a move for LOSC Lille attacking midfielder Jonathan Ikoné as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho.

With Jadon Sancho’s future still uncertain, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has been working on finding potential replacements in case Manchester United decide to pay up the asking price of 120 million euros. Ruhr Nachrichten reported yesterday that the Black and Yellows could look to sign two players to replace the winger if he leaves. And according to the Times (subscription required), one of those players could be Jonathan Ikoné.

The report claims that Dortmund have already initiated discussions with LOSC Lille for the French attacking midfielder, who is valued at 45 million euros.

The 22 year old scored four goals and provided seven assists in 36 appearances for LOSC Lille last season. And his performances also saw him get called up to the French national team in September. He has since earned four caps for Les Blues, scoring once. The versatile forward is more of a number ten, but is also capable of playing on either wing.

Ikoné has been linked with a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Chelsea in the past. He has three years remaining on his current contract with Lille, but he could leave this summer if a suitable bid arrives.

It remains to be seen just how much truth there is to this rumour, which originates from England. Earlier this week, the Telegraph linked Borussia Dortmund with a move for Milot Rashica.
