VFB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has commented on the future of Nicolás González, who is said to be a target for Borussia Dortmund.
VFB Stuttgart forward Nicolás González is one of the many names to have been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. Stuttgarter Nachrichten claimed last week that the Black and Yellows are one of the many teams interested in signing the 22 year old, who played a key role in Stuttgart’s promotion to the Bundesliga last season.
Atalanta Bergamo, Inter Milan, Hertha Berlin, Leeds United, are among the other teams in the race for the versatile forward, who scored 14 goals and provided three assists in the 2.Bundesliga last season.
Now VFB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has had his say on the rumours. Speaking to Sport1, the former Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal scout said:
"“We have not yet received any concrete sign from Dortmund. If they come up with the right initial sum, then we’ll sit down at a table. When a top international club like Borussia Dortmund comes along, we are realistic enough to understand that VfB is currently not in a position to say that Nico has to stay. If there is the win-win situation at the end of the sale, the player and we as a club have done a good job”."
González, who joined Stuttgart from Argentinos Jrs. in 2018, revealed last month that he has informed the club about his desire to leave this summer. The Argentine international still has three years remaining on his current contract with the Swabians.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, González is indeed a player Borussia Dortmund have an eye on. But it still remains to be seen if they will make a move for him this summer.
Sporting director Michael Zorc has already confirmed that Borussia Dortmund will not be making any more signings this summer, unless of course, Manchester United meet their valuation of 120 million euros for Jadon Sancho. If the Englishman does depart, Der BVB will look to make two signings to replace him.
