Borussia Dortmund have their first friendly game of the season this Wednesday, taking on SCR Attach as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Borussia Dortmund got their pre-season underway last week, and headed to their Bad Ragaz training camp on Monday. The news of the day was Michael Zorc confirming that Dortmund will be planning with Jadon Sancho for the upcoming season and that he will stay with the club. That’s a massive boost for Dortmund, with Marco Reus’s health up in the air, keeping their other star man in Sancho keeps the Black and Yellows from taking a big step backwards.

Borussia Dortmund take on Austrian side SCR Attach on Wednesday in their first game of the pre-season. Altach finished eighth in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.

There will be a lot of rotation in this game as Dortmund look to get everyone some game time. Lucien Favre’s side will have only had a week’s training under their belts so it will be important to limit everyone’s play time avoid any early injuries.

Mats Hummels and Mahmoud Dahoud are likely to miss the game, along with long-term absentees Marco Reus and Marcel Schmelzer.

Players to Watch

Although most players won’t be getting too much play time there will be some highlights in this one. Most notably will be Jude Bellingham’s first friendly in a Dortmund jersey. The 17 year old will likely make his debut in Black and Yellow on Wednesday and Dortmund fans will be looking forward to seeing him in action. It will also be Thomas Meunier’s first game in a Dortmund jersey and although he isn’t quite as exciting as the young Englishman, it’s critical he adapts to life quickly in Dortmund to fill the void Hakimi left.

Lastly, I think everyone will be looking forward to seeing Jadon Sancho back in action now that his 2023 contract extension has been confirmed. I’m sure we will see Sancho dazzling once more to get fans excited for the coming season.
